Everyone needs a bike that looks good, comes with phenomenal performance, and is loaded with premium features. However, things get touchy when the matter comes to the budget. Now, here we are getting luckier day by day as more and manufacturers are taking interest in the premium budget motorcycle segment. Within a couple of years, we have seen the launches of numerous bikes which gives optimum balance between appearance, performance and features, and still comes with a price tag that can fit your pocket well. 5. Bajaj Pulsar AS200:

Always known for its value for money products, Bajaj added the AS200 model to the new range of Pulsars in April 2015. Based on the naked sport Pulsar NS200, the adventure sport version gets some extra perks like a half fairing, a projector headlamp and a wind deflector screen to reduce air buffeting. With a powerful 200cc, liquid-cooled cooled engine delivering 23.5PS, it is a motorcycle that can be managed easily in traffic conditions and used for touring as well. Apart from the styling and the performance, it comes loaded with equipment like wide tubeless tyres, front and rear disc brakes, rear monoshock suspension and much more, and it still comes with a price tag of Rs 94,049 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The aggressive looking streetfighter motorcycle follows design cues from the litre-class CB1000R and it has turned out rather well in the looks department. The smooth and refined powertrain of the bike consists of a 162.7cc, air-cooled engine which churns out 15.88PS of maximum power and 14.76Nm of torque. The bike also gets a wide 140/70 section rear tyre along with a 276mm petal disc brake on the front wheel. With all the standard features, the bike has been priced at Rs 80,431 (ex-showroom, Delhi) while you can also opt for the CBS (Combi Brake System) and rear disc brake-equipped variant for Rs 4,500 extra.

3. Bajaj Avenger 220 Street:

In October 2015 Bajaj extended its much popular Avenger brand with 3 new cruiser motorcycles, including the 220 Street. The bike gained huge popularity thanks to its sporty redesign and better city handling with its redesigned handlebars. Besides that, it features comfortable low-slung seating, long wheelbase, relaxed front set foot pegs, multi-spoke alloy wheels with wide tyres, and much more. But the most impressive thing in the new Bajaj Avenger 220 Street is its powerful yet sweet 220cc, air/oil-cooled motor that gives a raw power of 19PS and a peak torque of 17.5Nm. The bike performs well on both streets and highways and comes with a price tag of Rs 85,497.

2. TVS Apache RTR 200 4V:

The recently launched Apache RTR 200 4V is the flagship offering of the homegrown manufacturer TVS Motor in India. With a starting price of Rs 89,215, the bike is undoubtedly the best performing motorcycle in its price segment. The bike has been developed using the inputs of the TVS Racing team, and it shows. The company claims that the bike can do a sprint from 0 to 60kmph in mere 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 129kmph. Powered by a 197.75cc, air/oil-cooled, 4-valve engine, the bike comes with both carburettor and fuel injection options, delivering 20PS and 21PS respectively. With a sporty yet comfortable sitting position, the new Apache RTR 200 features race-spec tyres, front and rear petal disc brakes, KYB monoshock at the rear and much more. The company also provides super sticky Pirelli tyres and ABS (Anti-lock Braking system) with the bike as optional extras.

1. Suzuki Gixxer SF:

When you are in favour of styling, like most of us Indians are, the Suzuki Gixxer SF is the best option to go for, with a starting price of Rs 85,268. Being the most affordable fully-faired motorcycle in the country, it has the advantage of an outstanding appearance among the competition. Though it is more of a faired tourer, it looks like a track machine with the optional MotoGP livery. Besides its eye-catching looks, other key features of the bike include beefy 41mm front forks, rear monoshock, comfortable upright seating posture, wide 140/60 section rear tyre and front disc brake. On board is a 155cc, air-cooled engine with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology for optimum performance. The motor makes 14.8PS of power and a peak torque of 14Nm, which is decent for daily rides. The bike now also comes with an option of the rear disc brake, endowing it with better braking performance.
