The new generation of India doesn't look at a motorcycle only as an option for commuting but also as a style statement. In a few years, communities of young and passionate riders have increased in the country and bikes have become machines to live with for them. Enthusiasts belonging to these groups don't just use their machines to cover a distance, but they want to explore places and make new stories with their sets of two wheels. If you are one of them and are looking to upgrade your ride to make this dream come true, we have compiled a detailed list of top 5 bikes you can buy between a price range of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.0 lakh, including various type of options.

Honda CBR250R:

Launched in March 2011, the Honda CBR250R has not received any major update apart from the new colours in India. Still, it is one of the best quarter-litre motorcycles you can use for both daily commuting as well as touring. Starting at Rs 1.6 lakh, the bike comes with interesting features like a sporty full-body fairing and an advanced 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine. The fuel injected motor is butter smooth and makes 26.5PS of power at 8,500rpm and delivers a peak torque of 22.9Nm at 7,000 rpm. Other features of the bike include pro-link rear suspension, wide, tubeless tyres and front and rear disc brake from Nissin, while the C-ABS (Combines Anti-lock Braking System) comes as an optional extra for Rs 29,000 more over the price of the standard trim.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500:

We don't need to give any introduction for the Thunderbird, the only cruiser in Royal Enfield family, which is available in both 350 and 500cc variants. With an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1.79 lakh, it is one of the most affordable motorcycles in the 500cc category. Besides a comfortable design, the bike also gets some other touring compatible features, such as a 20-litre fuel tank, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, digital-analog instrument console with two independent trip meters, a removable pillion seat that can be used as a luggage carrier and much more. However, the most special feature of the bike is the thundering 499cc, air-cooled engine that produced 27.5PS of power and a massive torque of 41.3Nm available at just 4,000rpm.

Mahindra Mojo:

A streetfighter by looks, the Mahindra Mojo is actually a tourer with a comfortable seating posture. The bike looks interesting with its unique styling which is symbolised by its big owl-eyed headlamps. Powering the bike is a 300cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine, delivering 27.2PS of power and 30Nm of torque, which, with dual mufflers, makes an exhaust note like big bikes. The Mojo comes loaded with premium features like beefy USD front forks, rear monoshock with internal floating piston, super sticky Pirelli Rosso II tyres, large disc brakes and much more. Sporting all these class-leading features, the bike still comes with an affordable price tag of Rs 1.7 lakh.

KTM 390 Duke:

With the most powerful engine in the respective price range, the KTM 390 Duke is a true performance bike that comes with a price tag of Rs 1.96 lakh. The streetfighter motorcycle is sporty and agile, yet comfortable at the same time, giving you a complete package that can be used in various conditions. It sports a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates 43.5PS of power and 35Nm of torque, which are clearly class-leading numbers with respect to its pricing. Apart from that, the 390 Duke also gets some high-end features like sticky Metzeler tyres, WP suspension set-up with 43mm USD front forks and rear monoshock, front and rear disc brakes with Bosch ABS and a slipper clutch.

Royal Enfield Himalayan:

The Royal Enfield Himalayan, which was introduced this year only is India's first true entry-level adventure tourer. It is based on a completely new platform, featuring a long travel suspension setup with a minimalistic design approach. With a 21" front and a 17" rear wheel, the bike offers a ground clearance of 220mm and comes with CEAT dual sport tyres to provide decent grip on any kind of terrain. Powering the bike is an all new 411cc, air/oil-cooled, OHC engine that provides 24.5PS of power and a torque of 32Nm available at just 4,000-4,500rpm. The bike really feels ergonomic and comes with many touring compatible features at just Rs 1.56 lakh.
